Michael Cervin grew up in La Cañada, a suburb of Los Angeles. After a brief acting career on TV shows including
3rd Rock from the Sun, Grace Under Fire, and
The Young and the Restless, he relocated to Santa Barbara, where wine quickly became one of his passions.
Michael has written for major wine publications including
Decanter, Wine & Spirits, Wine Enthusiast, and
The Tasting Panel. His work has also appeared in
Skywest, Westways, Fido Friendly, Food & Beverage World, Vine Times, and more than sixty other publications. He has served as a wine judge at the Santa Barbara County Fair, the Central Coast Wine Competition, the Monterey Wine Competition, and the El Dorado and Amador County Fair Wine Competitions.
Michael's book of poetry,
Generous Fiction, was published in 2009. He is currently the restaurant critic for the
